Use-Re-Use: Adaptive Modernism

The Use-Re-Use Adaptive Modernism Workshop was  held on June 7, 2014, during the opening day of the 14th International Architecture Exhibition of the Venice Biennale as part of the ‘Biennale Sessions 2014‘, Biennale’s University Programme, a forum for universities.

The workshop, curated by Prof Carmella Jacoby Volk, Dr. Shelly Cohen and Arch. Rebecca Sternberg, will consist of 10 minute presentations surrounding research and projects that address re-use of buildings and re-purposing of modernist architecture, urban fabrics and landscapes.

The discussions suggested a wide range of perspectives on the contemporary significance of re-using modernisms built legacy, within the context of the contemporary uses, users, and current social, political, economic and cultural climates.
